Configure BigDataCloud IP Intelligence

Blacklist Manager Premium uses BigDataCloud for IP intelligence. Depending on the enabled rule, the plugin calls IP Geolocation Full for country and coordinates, or Hazard Report for proxy, VPN, Tor, and hosting signals.

Open the feature

Go to Blacklist Manager > Settings > Integrations > BigDataCloud API key.

Create and save the key

1. Create a BigDataCloud account with a durable business email address.
2. Confirm the selected package includes the IP Geolocation and Hazard Report capabilities required by the store’s rules.
3. Copy the API key into Blacklist Manager and save.
4. If a newly created or rotated key reports an authentication error, allow time for provider propagation and retry.

Choose rules deliberately

• Country and coordinate rules use IP Geolocation Full.
• Proxy, VPN, Tor, and hosting rules use Hazard Report.
• IP-derived location and hazard signals are risk indicators, not proof of identity or malicious intent.
• Begin uncertain signals as an alert, suspect entry, or score contribution before enabling direct blocking.

Verify and monitor

1. Test a representative public IP address on staging.
2. Confirm the expected country/coordinate or hazard fields are available for the enabled rule.
3. Monitor provider usage and quota after enabling checkout automation.
4. Review false positives from corporate networks, mobile carriers, privacy relays, and legitimate VPN users.

Failure behavior

• A 403 commonly indicates a key or package-access problem.
• A 429 indicates a quota or rate-limit condition.
• Network, authentication, or quota failures can cause a rule to fall back or produce no usable result; they should not be interpreted as a clean IP.

Data shared

The customer IP address is sent to BigDataCloud. Review the provider terms and update the store privacy records where required.
