Configure Earning Points From Orders

Configure how customers earn WooCommerce loyalty points from orders, including earning rules, statuses, and exclusions.

Applies to 1.2.2+ Stable Verified July 29, 2026

Earning rules decide when customers receive points and how many points they receive.

Choose Earning Status

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Loyalty → General.
  2. Find Earning status.
  3. Select the order statuses that should award points.
  4. Save changes.

Common choices are Processing or Completed. Completed is safer because the order is more likely to be final. Processing gives points earlier but can require more deductions later.

Set Earning Rules

For each loyalty level, set how many points are earned per order amount.

Example: assign 1 point for each 1.00 spent. A 50.00 order earns 50 points.

Understand Earning Options

Earning options control what is included in the order value used for point calculation.

  • Excluding coupons: points are based on the discounted product line total.
  • Excluding taxes: tax amounts are not counted toward points.

The plugin calculates points from product line items, not from unrelated order fees.

Choose Point Rounding

  • Round down: safer and more predictable for store cost.
  • Round up: more generous for customers.

Test Earning

  1. Place a test order as a logged-in customer.
  2. Move the order to an earning status.
  3. Open the order and customer profile.
  4. Confirm the customer received the expected points.

After base order earning is configured, review Add Extra Purchase and Order Points and Configure Point Deduction and Expiration.
