Start with sidecars only, then enable original optimization or HTML delivery after backups and delivery tests pass.
Open the feature
Go to Media > Media Optimizer > Settings.
Before you start
- Define acceptable image quality and maximum dimensions.
Recommended workflow
- Enable WebP and optionally AVIF sidecars.
- Choose a conservative compression mode.
- Leave original-file optimization disabled for the first test.
- Configure upload automation and queue batch size.
- Save and test a new upload.
What success looks like
- New uploads retain originals and receive expected sidecars.
- Failures remain visible without breaking the source image.
Important notes
- Original optimization requires backups; HTML delivery is a separate decision.
