Create and Customize Order Statuses

Create and customize WooCommerce order statuses, labels, colors, and badges to match your store workflow.

Applies to 1.4.1+ Stable Verified July 29, 2026

Custom statuses help your team track order stages that WooCommerce does not include by default, such as “Waiting for supplier”, “Packed”, or “Ready for pickup”.

Open Status Settings

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Orders.
  2. Open Statuses.

Add a Custom Status

  1. Enter a clear status label.
  2. Enter a slug only if you need a specific internal slug. Otherwise, let the plugin create one from the label.
  3. Choose text and background colors for the badge.
  4. Save the new status.

Reorder Statuses

Drag and drop statuses into the order you want. This affects how statuses are listed in WooCommerce status selectors.

Edit Badge Labels and Colors

You can customize labels, text color, and background color for core, third-party, and custom statuses. This makes the Orders list easier for staff to scan.

Before Deleting a Custom Status

Do not delete a custom status that is still used by active orders. Move affected orders to another status first.
