Customize Registration and Profile Fields

The Profile section controls what customers can add to their account and what fields appear during registration.

Open Profile Settings

1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Membership.
2. Open the Profile section.

Allow Customer Avatars

Enable Allow user to upload their own profile avatar if customers should upload their own profile image. The avatar may appear in places like comments or reviews depending on your theme and plugins.

Choose the Welcome Name Format

Customer name controls the name shown under the account avatar. You can display:

• Display name
• First and last name
• First name
• Last name

If your registration form does not collect first and last name, use Display name until those fields are available.

Enable Birthday and Age Limit

1. Check Allow users to provide their birth date.
2. If birth date is required, check Make the birth date is required.
3. Enter an Age limit if your store requires a minimum age.
4. Save changes.

Only make birthday required when your business actually needs it. Required personal data can reduce registration completion if customers do not understand why it is needed.

Add Fields to Registration

In the Registration area, enable:

• First & last name: adds first name and last name fields to registration.
• Birth date: adds the birth date field to registration.

After saving, test the registration form on the My Account page and during checkout. Some themes or checkout customizers can change how registration fields are displayed.

Recommended Setup

For most stores, enable first and last name fields. Enable birthday and age limit only if they support a real business rule, such as age-restricted products, personalization, or membership eligibility.
