Go to Media > Media Optimizer > Overview.
Before you start
- Back up the uploads directory before enabling original-file changes.
Recommended workflow
- Install the stable WordPress.org plugin.
- Review GD/Imagick format support.
- Review detected cwebp, avifenc, jpegoptim, jpegtran, pngquant, oxipng, and optipng binaries.
- Optimize one non-critical attachment.
What success looks like
- At least one supported engine can create the selected sidecar format.
- The test attachment reports a successful result.

- Optional binaries improve coverage but are not bundled or required.
