Recommended First Setup for Store Owners
Set up WooCommerce Advanced Order Actions with a safe first configuration for manual order actions, automation, and email notifications.
Start with manual actions first. Automation is powerful, but it should only be enabled after you understand how split and merge results look in your store.
Recommended Setup Order
- Activate the license.
- Configure allowed statuses for split, duplicate, and merge.
- Enable order labels so staff can identify original, split, duplicated, and merged orders.
- Test manual split on a test order.
- Test duplicate and merge on test orders.
- Configure notifications.
- Enable automation only after manual testing is correct.
Safe Default Settings
For most stores, start with Processing as the allowed status for split, duplicate, and merge. Keep original/split order statuses unchanged until your team confirms the workflow.
Use a Test Order First
Create an order with at least two different products. Use that order to test split by item, category, tag, or stock status depending on your store setup.
What Staff Should Know
Staff should understand that splitting creates new orders, merging moves items into a main order and trashes the merged orders, and duplicating creates a new order copied from the original.
After the first setup, review Configure General Order Action Settings, then decide whether you need Configure Automatic Order Splitting or Configure Automatic Order Merging.
