Recommended First Setup for Store Owners

Set up WooCommerce Advanced Order Manager with a practical first configuration for cancellation, return, and order status workflows.

Applies to 1.4.1+ Stable Verified July 29, 2026

Start with one workflow at a time. Customer cancellation and return requests change order status, trigger emails, and affect support work, so the setup should be tested before going live.

  1. Activate the license.
  2. Configure cancellation requests first.
  3. Place a test order and submit a cancellation request.
  4. Approve and reject test cancellation requests from the admin order screen.
  5. Configure return requests.
  6. Test a full-order return and a specific-item return.
  7. Review customer emails and My Account request records.
  8. Configure custom order statuses only after the basic request workflow is clear.

Safe Default Approach

For cancellations, start with Processing as the allowed status and keep manual approval enabled. For returns, start with Completed as the allowed status and keep manual approval enabled.

What Staff Should Know

Staff should know where to approve or reject requests, which status means “waiting for review”, and what message customers receive after a decision.

Before Going Live

Open a real customer-style account, place a test order, and confirm that the buttons, popup forms, request records, emails, and admin approval boxes all appear as expected.
