A loyalty program affects pricing, customer expectations, order status workflows, and support. Start with a simple setup first.

  1. Create loyalty levels such as Customer, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
  2. Set level thresholds based on total earned points.
  3. Choose one or two order statuses that award points, usually Processing or Completed.
  4. Set one simple earning rule, such as 1 point for every 1 currency unit spent.
  5. Enable redemption only after earning has been tested.
  6. Turn on the My Points tab so customers can see their balance.
  7. Place a test order and confirm points are added.
  8. Cancel or refund a test order and confirm points are deducted if configured.

Starter Settings Example

  • Point label: Points
  • Earning status: Completed, or Processing if you want points sooner.
  • Earning rule: 1 point for each 1.00 spent.
  • Point rounding: Round down.
  • Deduction status: Cancelled and Refunded.
  • Using points: disabled until earning is confirmed.

Testing Checklist

  1. Create a test customer.
  2. Place an order as that customer.
  3. Move the order to the earning status.
  4. Open the customer profile and check Available Points and Total Earned.
  5. Open My Account as the customer and check the My Points page.
  6. Refund or cancel the test order if deduction is enabled.
