Generate missing sizes only is the conservative repair mode; Force regenerate all selected images intentionally rebuilds metadata and enabled sizes.
Open the feature
Go to Tools > Thumbnails > Regenerate.
Before you start
- Confirm original image files exist.
- Start with a bounded year, month, or attachment set.
Recommended workflow
- Choose Generate missing sizes only for normal repair.
- Select the attachment/folder scope.
- Start the job and monitor item errors.
- Resume if interrupted.
- Inspect frontend crops and attachment metadata.
What success looks like
- Missing files are restored from original sources.
- The persistent job reaches completed state or reports actionable per-item errors.
Important notes
- Use Force regenerate all selected images only when the current metadata/crops are known to be wrong.
