Troubleshooting Advanced Accounts Premium Verification Code Is Not Sent

Troubleshoot WooCommerce verification codes that are not sent by email or SMS, including provider, template, and delivery checks.

Applies to 2.1.2+ Stable Verified July 29, 2026

If customers do not receive a verification code, check the delivery method first: email verification uses email delivery, while phone verification and phone OTP depend on SMS.

Check SMS Service Selection

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Membership → Advanced.
  2. Confirm the correct SMS service is selected.
  3. Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Integration → SMS Services.
  4. Confirm credentials are entered for the selected service.

Send a Test SMS

If Twilio or Textmagic credentials are complete, the settings screen can show a Send test SMS button. Use a full international number format, such as +1234567890.

If the test SMS fails, fix the provider account before changing plugin verification settings.

Check SMS Content

The SMS content must include {code}. If this placeholder is missing, the customer may receive a message without the actual verification code.

A safe message is:

{site_name}: Your verification code is {code}

Check Resend Limits

If customers say they cannot request another code, review:

  • Resend in seconds
  • Time limited

Very strict resend settings can create support tickets when customers miss the first code.

Check Customer Phone Format

Make sure the customer phone number includes the correct country code or is entered in the format your store expects. Delivery can fail when a local phone number is sent without enough country information.

If email verification does not arrive, check your WordPress email delivery. Use an SMTP plugin or transactional email service if normal WordPress emails are unreliable.

Temporary Workaround

If a legitimate customer is blocked by verification, an admin can manually verify email or phone status from the Users screen using row or bulk actions, then ask the customer to log in again.
