Troubleshooting: Customers Received the Wrong Email

Troubleshoot WooCommerce Advanced Order Actions emails when customers receive the wrong notification or no notification.

Applies to 1.7.3+ Stable Verified July 29, 2026

Email behavior depends on customer email settings, sending mode, split type, and WooCommerce email templates.

Check Email to Customer

Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Orders → Notifications. Confirm Email to customer is enabled if customers should receive split order emails.

Check Sending Mode

If customers get an initial email plus split emails, you may be using Split order only. If you only want separate final order emails, use All orders after split.

Check Split Type Message Overrides

Each split type can have its own subject, heading, and message. Make sure the enabled message matches the automation mode you are using.

Check WooCommerce Email Recipients

Administrator emails follow WooCommerce New order email recipient settings. If staff are not receiving emails, check WooCommerce email settings too.

Test With One Order

Place one test order and record exactly which emails arrive. Then adjust one setting at a time so you can see which option changes the result.
