Understand Extended Stock Snapshots in Orders
Read the order item snapshot panel that compares checkout-time preorder/backorder data with the current product state.
Extended stock snapshots record the product stock status and available date at checkout time. This keeps order admin, emails, and PDF output grounded in what the customer saw when they ordered.
Where Snapshots Are Stored
When checkout creates an order line item, the plugin stores internal line item meta for the extended stock status and available date. These internal meta keys are hidden from normal line item meta display.
Open the Snapshot Panel
- Open a WooCommerce order that contains a preorder or backorder item.
- Scroll to the order items table.
- Find the Extended stock snapshots panel below the line items.
How to Read the Columns
- Checkout status: preorder or backorder status captured when the order was placed.
- Checkout ETA: available date captured when the order was placed.
- Current status: current product stock status.
- Current ETA: current product available date.
- Change: comparison result for staff.
Change Labels
- No change: checkout and current status/date still match.
- Delayed: current ETA is later than the checkout ETA.
- Earlier: current ETA is earlier than the checkout ETA.
- ETA changed: date changed but not clearly later or earlier.
- Status changed: product stock status changed after checkout.
- Product unavailable: the product can no longer be loaded.
Use this panel before sending delay notices. It explains why a customer is affected and what date they originally saw.
