Use Available Date and Expected Restock
Use available date and expected restock messages in WooCommerce to explain preorder, backorder, and stock timing clearly.
The available date is more than a display field. It can schedule automatic actions when the product becomes available.
What Available Date Does
- Shows expected availability on product, cart, checkout, order, and PDF documents.
- Schedules the product to change from preorder/backorder to in stock.
- Can trigger customer emails when the product becomes available.
- Can trigger admin reminder emails before the available date.
Expected Restock
Expected restock is added to the product’s current stock quantity when the available date arrives. After it is used, the expected restock value is reset to 0.
Example
If the current stock is 0 and expected restock is 25, the product can become in stock with 25 units when the available date is reached.
Automatic Status Change
When the scheduled event runs, preorder or backorder products can move to In stock. For preorder items, the preorder flag is also turned off.
Important Notes
- Scheduled actions depend on WordPress cron, so the site must receive traffic or have a real cron runner.
- If you change the available date, the old schedule is replaced.
- If the date is in the past, a future scheduled event will not be created.
