Cleanup removes plugin-generated sidecars only when the selected scope is intentional; uninstall leaves generated files and backups in place.
Open the feature
Go to Media > Media Optimizer > Maintenance.
Before you start
- Create an uploads backup before bulk cleanup or restore.
Recommended workflow
- Review the target scope and file counts.
- Use wp yoohw-media analyze before optimize or cleanup.
- Run the smallest useful operation.
- Verify representative frontend images.
- Use WP-CLI for repeatable maintenance only after testing commands on staging.
What success looks like
- Original uploads remain intact.
- Generated sidecars match current settings after cleanup or rebuild.
Important notes
- Uninstall removes options and tracking metadata, not generated image files or backups.
