What Media Optimizer Does

Media Optimizer creates modern image sidecars locally and keeps original JPEG/PNG files unchanged in its conservative default workflow.

Open the feature

Go to Media > Media Optimizer.

Before you start

Confirm the server has GD or Imagick; external binaries are optional.

Recommended workflow

Open Overview and review engine capabilities.
Generate sidecars for a small test image.
Run Delivery Assistant before changing frontend delivery.
Measure coverage and savings.

What success looks like

Original image URLs still work.
The Media Library shows optimization status and savings.

Important notes

No image is sent to an external optimization API.
